Description: This unique antique porcelain inkwell in the shape of a reclining lion is an interesting promotional item for the Bengué brand, known for manufacturing medicinal ointments and pastilles. The inscription on the base "Baume Dragées Chlorethyle Bengué" refers to the popular products of this French pharmaceutical company. The inkwell is made of white porcelain, and its head is removable, allowing access to the inkwell container. On the underside of the inkwell is the mark "Encrideal" and also the inscription "Breveté S.G.D.G.", which means a patent registered in France without government guarantee, common until the mid-20th century. This inkwell could have served not only as a practical item but also as a decoration on the counter of pharmacies that offered Bengué products.
