Description: This inkwell originates from the renowned French workshop Gien, as evidenced by the authentic blue mark with a castle motif on the underside (used around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries). The ceramic body is adorned with rich, hand-painted floral decor in vibrant colors on a grey-beige background with fine crazing, typical for this type of faience. The inkwell is fitted with its original hinged metal lid, showing a distinct patina. Although it bears traces of time and minor glaze chips, it still represents high artistic and craft value and is a wonderful addition for lovers of classic writing desks or collectors of European ceramics.
